About my approach and specialities

I offer sessions both in person and online via zoom.

The work I do is an integration of various modalities and we will figure out and weave together what’s best to meet your needs.

Sessions can involve talking, use of gentle, non-invasive touch, movement & gestures, art, sounding (Body-Mind Centering® / Integrative Bodywork & Movement Therapy approach) and  more specific regulation work from Somatic Experiencing®/ Neuro-Affective Relational Model® / Neuro-Affective Touch.  All of the above modalities address both mind and the body as one continuous entity, and we seek to find safer & healthier relationship between the body and the mind. Another thing in common among those somatic approach is that we will enquire and explore with curiousity and open-mindedness throughout our process.

I do incline to work more with early trauma clients (CPTSD, including birth / prenatal trauma).

However, I am also experienced in working structurally for structural issues, movement analysis and repatterining, injury recovery, post operation recovery, or discomfort clients might be experiencing in movement, as well as performance enhancing work for sports & movement professionals.

I can also work with other conditions, such as anxiety, stress, depression, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, auto-immune conditions, some digestive issues, Parkinson’s, etc.  Sometimes some of those symptoms and conditions are due to untreated trauma - early or otherwise - and it might show up during our sessions. We can welcome what emerges and can work with it beyond the physical symptoms, in a pace that feels comfortable and safe.

One very important aspect is this: I can work with you, if you are willing to engage in supporting yourself in your healing & recovery process, so we can work as a team. Because I cannot work alone on you, and ultimately, that is not what you need either.

In person: Monday 6-7/7.30pm, Tuesday 12pm-7/7.30pm, Wednesday 9am-2.30pm at Camden Triyoga centre. I use a treatment room or a small studio space, depending on what’s required for the session. The latest in person session is from 6/6.30pm.

Session length & how much I charge

Sessions are generally an hour long. However, in some cases it may be desirable to have a longer session, especially involving touch (75-90minutes)

Please enquire if you are interested in longer sessions and we can discuss more in details.

In person: £90 / one hour session. (£115 / 75 minutes, £135 / 90 minutes session)

Online: £65 / hour for all my online sessions.  (£75 / 75 minutes, £90/90 minutes)

Fee is to be settled prior to each session. Also a block booking is available and recommended. At the moment I accept payment via bank transfer, PayPal or cash. For those who live outside of the UK, either PayPal or Wise.com are available. (I am looking into setting up a payment system where you can use your credit card too in the future.)

Please note: Longer sessions online are rare but it can be arranged if needed.

For touch and/or movement based sessions, sometimes it is helpful to have longer 75 or 90 minute sessions, at least once in a while. It enables us to dive slowly into the depth and have enough time to integrate.

Frequency & span of therapeutic process and relationship

Some clients see me weekly, some fortnightly, some every 2-3 weeks, some monthly or even more sporadically whenever they need to see me.

Initially though, it might be good to book a few sessions so we will have time to get to know each other and gradually work out how best we could work together according to your needs or a chance to see if I am the right therapist for the client.

So frequency is determined between us as we go along.

Generally, I do work long terms with most clients,  6 months - 1 year minimal or sometimes longer, while of course a short term or just a one off are possible.

For CPTSD / early developmental trauma, it does require longer and consistent sessions. We are then able to gradually support the client establish their much needed baseline stability in the nervous system and shift their perceptions, help build more resilience and open up choices and possibilities outside of what they have known.

If you are already working with a psychotherapist or a coach on a regular basis, I will be happy to help along side when required.

Early trauma therapy

It is for early developmental trauma / CPTSD for adult clients. Some sessions are dialogue based with carefully attuned somatic awareness and enquiries to support expand client’s regulatory capacities in their system, their compassionate self awareness, and reconnecting with the sense of empowerment. Some movements/gestures are part of this.

Some sessions are more touch and/or movement based and can include use of gesture, movement, gentle & non-invasive touch, sounding and art, depending on what appears to be the most effective and accessible for the client. For very early trauma, for instance peri/prenatal/birth trauma, the touch & movement work is very effective and satisfying. I am highly experienced in the infant developmental movement and this greatly supports me provide elements that can meet unique needs of each client, in terms of completion, and re-patterning (new pathways) and integration of their experiences.

In order to create safety and build a trusting relationship through continuity, I recommend minimum of 6 sessions to start with. Frequency and duration will be discussed during the first sessions and we will check in again as we go along.

Making meaningful changes in life takes an accumulation of small but significant shifts over a longer period and it is the way to go for the early developmental trauma healing path. I see many clients over a longe period, supporting and accompanying them in their process. It is inevitably challenging at times but often playful & even fun (!) and definitely an enriching experience.

Somatic bodywork / movement therapy

For any issues concerning the body and also the mind, including discomfort, pain, injuries caused by structural issues and other symptoms, including some systemic issues like chronic pain, chronic fatigue, anxiety, digestive issues etc. Or those who wish to have a better posture or healthier patterns of movement.

Non-invasive bodywork can also be very effective in relieving trauma held in body tissues and combined with my understanding of the trauma work, I can support client’s process safely.

The bodywork / movement therapy can also be about improving quality of performance in sport, yoga, dance or daily movement. Sessions begin with a short consultation, followed by non-invasive touch and / or movement analysis.

Cancellation fees

No fee if notified 48 hours before.

There is a 50% charge for cancelling in less than 24 hours. However, often the session can be rearranged to another day/time within a reasonable period (ie the same week) for no additional fee.

100 % of the fee will be applied to cancellation on the day or no show.

What clients say about working with me

Working with Aki has really helped me process and integrate some intense patterns of fear I was holding in my body that was keeping me stuck in states of high anxiety, hypervigilance and shutdown. During our sessions, she knew exactly how to guide and support me to find calm and safety within my body and nervous system. Her gentle and highly attuned touch was incredibly powerful in my healing process – something that can only come from a highly experienced and embodied practitioner. I would recommend to all looking for deep transformation and healing. - L.J. Personal Trainer

I first met Aki where she taught somatic anatomy. I was instantly drawn to her embodied teaching style and warm, friendly personality. I had been struggling with some difficult life events, overwhelm, depression and anxiety, so decided to ask Aki for some one-to-one sessions. My sessions with Aki, which take place over zoom, have been wonderful, emotional, and profound. Aki is extremely open, inquisitive and non-judgemental so the sessions feel safe and gentle. She has helped me to better regulate my emotional state, and has shifted my perspective on my body and how I can sit with difficult emotions. I now have a greater trust in my body (and self) and a set of tools, from breathing to movement, to support me in difficult times.  I like to think I am Aki's biggest fan and can't speak highly enough of her vast knowledge of trauma and embodiment, as well as how generously and tenderly she conducts our sessions. - L. Script Writer/Performer

I worked with Aki for just under a year and throughout that time I was struck by her ongoing compassion and care. This went a long way to rebuilding my trust in relationship. In our sessions together we explored finding ever deeper layers of internal support that allowed for more safety to come online. Which in turn meant we could meet the patterns of freeze and panic that had plagued my nervous system for decades. Our work together has meant I feel safer, more alive and trusting in life in ways I never thought would be possible for me. - C. Life Coach

“I want to say thank you so, so much for our sessions together. I found the sessions to be so powerful and immediate energetically. The care, safety, non-judgment, presence, honesty and knowledge you lead with is very rare. It felt like a musical free-improvisation of all the modalities you have specialised in and embodied, and as a result so organic and alive with the reality of each moment.” - D. Musician

“My overall experience (of seeing you online for a year) was one of unconditional love and acceptance. You provided a container within which I could be with my felt experience fully. You have a gentle but firm approach in helping a person titrate to the areas in the body that need tending. My natural tendency is to talk about, focus on and analyze problems -which is similar to the stuck energy in my body. You have a beautiful way of orchestrating and motioning a flow of energy that feels like the gentle flow of water over the pebbles and rocks of the riverbed. Thank you for your wise and compassionate care in your work with clients. I feel honoured to have worked with you. You are a true healer and a beautiful person. Thank you.” - L. Psychotherapist & supervisor from Canada

One discovers the light in darkness, that is what darkness is for; but everything in our lives depends on how we bear the light. It is necessary, while in darkness, to know that there is a light somewhere, to know that in oneself, waiting to be found, there is a light.
