“How Life Moves”

Nervous System & Development

Sep 2026 - Spring 2027

12 x Fridays 2:30 - 4:30PM (UK time)*

*Please see below for actual dates

A 12-lab online course exploring the embodied Nervous System in the context of our own development — from embryology through infancy and beyond — and how that development shapes who we are, how we perceive the world, and the choices we make. Understand how you became who you are, and how you can continue to become truly who you are.

Each lab is highly experiential, combining movement, self-touch, lecture, discussion, and Q&A. You're invited to explore through your own experience, rather than needing to fit a model or match anyone else.

Topics

We will explore this through different topics, including but not limited to (not in order):

  • Basic Organisation of the Nervous System (NS) — Embodied Understanding

  • Physical Architecture of the Nervous System

  • The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) — Blueprint and Application in Adult Life

  • Sensory & Motor Nervous System — Taking In Information, Giving Out Expression

  • Embryological Origins of the Nervous System and Its Value

  • Sensory Overload, Midline Orientation, and Reflexes

  • Developmental Psychology — Attachment and Psycho-Emotional Needs

  • Top-Down and Bottom-Up Approaches to Regulation

  • The Enteric Nervous System — Our Gut and the ANS

  • Tissue Tone and the Nervous System — Gravity, Self, Other, Environment

(The contents are still being created)

"Aki that was truly sublime and precious, thank you so much"

“I found it illuminating and so refreshing to find a teacher that understands Somatics to such a high degree”

“I can't get enough of your teachings and classes as I love learning about somatic movement

“ I deeply appreciate your kind and compassionate support”

“the more I practice with you, the more I'm able to be open to that part of me that seemed a bit hidden”

“I've enjoyed a lot (like crazy enjoyed!) the embodiment part…It's really powerful. I've found it very intuitively enjoyable to move and process/explore aki's instructions as I was moving and as I embodied.”

“Thank you, dear Aki! You bring the best in us.”

“Aki, you are a wealth of knowledge and inspiration and I am so grateful for your wisdom.  I love your playful side too!”

Aki's teaching is one of the most valuable experiences of my life. She constantly brings new knowledge to her classes and changes the way I experience my body on profound levels that no other teacher reaches. Aki is inspiring, solicitous, imaginative, generous, extraordinarily sensitive, always exploring. Unique and precious.   - Pippa

Aki is a hugely watchable and compassionate teacher and I think I will always remember her lessons. The connection between yoga, physical development and the psyche was made so powerfully that I had a realisation about my own history that was painful yet freeing. - Lisa

Aki’s ability to unite the practical and the esoteric, the physical and the subtle, and to do so with humour and complete authenticity is just magical. A friend of mine once said that there are a few teachers out there who have an immense knowledge and understanding but everyone has a limit; Aki, however, is infinite. I completely agree. - James
